Archaeological Park by Clay Fauver's House Movers

The Greek Revival cottage was moved from Valley Grande (Just north of Selma) to the Old Cahawba Archaeological Park, Orrville, Ala (map). The cottage measured 19 x 48 feet x 18 feet high. In addition to moving the 1850s structure, Fauver raised the visitor center at Old Cahawba an additional 32 inches.

About Old Cahawba Archaeological Park

Cahawba was once Alabama's state capital (1820-1826) and a thriving antebellum river town. It became a ghost town shortly after the Civil War. Today, it is an important archaeological site with picturesque ruins. You can explore a landscape of ruins and relics, hike the Clear Creek Nature Trail, stroll through the cemetery, or celebrate at the Old Cahawba Festival on the 2nd Saturday in May. Call 334-872-8058 for more information or visit: www.cahawba.com.

The Kelly House was featured on the front page of the Selma Times-Journal on August 3, 2011.
